Located in Pretoria North, we care for 80 children, aged 3 to 19. Due to legal requirements, children must leave our facility when they turn 18.
Our children attend various schools, including Voortrekker Eeufees Primary School, Gerrit Maritz High School, Prospectus Nova, Via Nova, Nuwe Hoop, Suiderberg High School, Pretoria North High School, and Danie Malan. Transporting them safely to and from school each day is a challenge, making reliable transportation essential.
This year, our goal is to secure dedicated transportation for our home. Currently, we have one taxi and a small vehicle, which makes attending outings or special events difficult. Often, we must decline invitations or make multiple trips, which adds significant time and cost.
Hiring a bus costs between R5,000 and R8,000, depending on the destination. Even short trips, such as those to church, school, or nearby outings, require us to leave hours in advance.
Our dream is to acquire a 40+ seater bus to ease transportation and enable us to provide better experiences for our children. However, the cost is substantial.
Spreading the Love was established as a program to support the poor and vulnerable in Pretoria and surrounding areas by providing nutritious food. Founded by Lizelle Oosthuizen-Anderka, who recognized the immense need for food security in the community, Spreading the Love began as a single feeding point for those in need.
Our mission is to provide nutritious, fulfilling meals to anyone facing hunger—whether they are low-income households, people experiencing homelessness, illness, or other vulnerabilities. We believe no one who is hungry should be turned away, and we have a special focus on feeding vulnerable children, ensuring they receive the nourishment essential for healthy growth.
Food parcels are distributed regularly, with Lizelle personally delivering supplies to households in need. At this time, we are also seeking donations of blankets, food parcels, children’s clothing, and toys.
Spreading the Love is built on the belief that our work is strengthened through partnerships. By joining forces with other organizations and individuals who share our vision, we can make a greater impact in supporting those in need.
We are a non-profit organization based in Eersterust, Pretoria, dedicated to community upliftment with a focus on youth development. One of our primary initiatives targets young people ages 8 to 21, teaching them to play musical instruments.
Our initial phase will launch in Eersterust, with plans to expand to surrounding communities. Our programs include cultural activities, skill-building, and mentoring girls to become leaders across various fields. By giving back to the community, we help strengthen households impacted by job loss, which often affects children the most.
At Eersterust Baladines Brigade, we believe our programs can play a critical role in supporting and empowering our community. As we build partnerships with the private sector, we are excited to launch a range of programs, including:
- Youth and adult programs
- Primary and secondary school programs
- Corporate programs
- Personal development programs for youth and adults
